GE incandescent lamps represents the state of the art of lamps for residential and commercial use, as well as special purpose lamps for decorative or display applications. In an incandescent lamp, light is generated by heating the filament to incandescence. The hotter the filament, the more efficient it is in converting electricity to light. However, when the filament operates hotter, its life is shortened so the design of each lamp is a balance between efficiency and life. This is why lamps of equal wattage may have different lumen ratings and different life ratings. Incandescent lamps of similar size are commonly available with different wattage ratings. The fixture wattage limit should not be exceeded.

Customer Reviews
I initially bought a Zoo-med infrared 150 watts heat lamp in order to heat up silicone rubber molds to cast clear resin parts. You can surely feel the heat from the bulb...if you're close up to it, like 6 inches. The further away then the more noticeable the heat difference. It probably does a good job for warming reptile pets, but not for what I wanted.
After reviewing several other heat bulbs I chose this one, although it had no reviews at the time and have to say I am really glad I did.
The seller wrapped the inside and outside of the bulb package in bubble wrap. I screwed her in, turned her on and I could instantly feel a great amount of heat coming from the lamp, even as far as a foot and a half away.
To check out her heating abilities I placed an old credit card under the lamp about a foot away and within 3 minutes the card started to warp!
Used this lamp to heat up my rubber molds and it does an excellent job. It doesn't just heat the surface, this is good penetrating heat I can feel throughout the mold.
The light is not very bright, it is quite subdued which I expected for a red bulb. I used the Zoo-Med heat lamp with a dimmer http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Deluxe-Dimmable-8-5-Inch/dp/B000FTEQCY/ref=pd_sim_hi_6. The description says it is only rated for a maximum of 200 watts but I have not had any problems. Just to be safe I never leave it on if I won't be around :-). Rated at 5000 hours and using it an average of 1-2 hours per mold session I feel I got a great deal here. If you need a heat bulb for heating anything, even with shipping this is still the best deal around.
Price was good ; the free 2 day shipping with Amazon Prime can't be beat. I use it as one of the two bulbs in a heat lamp installed in the ceiling of a bathroom. It seems to warm up the place quite nicely. I am happy with my purchase.
